“The Trustees and Tutors were all very sad to hear of the death of Dr Martin Lowe, OBE, on 9 October, 2011.

Martin joined ELPDT as a Trustee in March, 2010 and in the short time he served as a Trustee, Martin made a most valuable contribution to the affairs of ELPDT. In particular, as a board member of The National Piping Centre, Martin played a key part in securing the visit of The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland into Musselburgh earlier this year which proved a huge success.

As stated in Martin’s long obituary in The Scotsman:

“Martin would go on to make as great a success of his retirement as of his professional life. With unflagging energy and enthusiasm, he immersed himself in piping, both playing and organising.”

ELPDT was extremely fortunate in benefitting from Martin’s wisdom, energy and experience as Trustee and extends its sincere condolences to his family.”
